Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett shut out Detroit Communication & Media Arts 34-0 to open its 2021 football season at home on Friday, Aug. 27.

   After a scoreless first quarter, Liggett took charge in the second quarter. Senior Carson Roose tossed touchdown passes to sophomore Andrew Stalker (19 yards), senior Justin Nazarko (29 yards), and junior Mitchell Beauregard (two yards) to take a 20-0 halftime lead.

   Roose connected with sophomore Jermaine Calloway Jr. twice in the second half for touchdowns of nine and 12 yards. Roose finished with five touchdown passes on the day.

   Liggett (1-0) hosts Flint New Standard Academy on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m. and opens Catholic High School League Intersectional 2 play on the road against Marine City Cardinal Mooney on Saturday, Sept. 11.
